The City of Pullman is pleased to announce that Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Scharnhorst has been offered the position of Fire Chief of the City of Pullman Fire Department. He will bring thirty years of fire service experience and leadership to his new role. Scharnhorst began his fire service career with the Washington State University Fire Department in 1995, where he served as Resident Captain while getting his Bachelorโs degree in Business Management.
He became a Pullman Firefighter/Paramedic in 1998, and also served in the Lewiston, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington, Fire Departments before moving to Wisconsin in 2004 to continue his fire career. He returned to Pullman in 2009 to serve as the Pullman Fire Departmentโs Deputy Chief of Training, where he oversaw all aspects of firefighter training until he was promoted to his current position of Assistant Fire Chief in charge of Operations in 2013.
