Virginia Beach Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue Team returns home from Texas

VIDEO: The Virginia Beach Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue Team is back in Hampton Roads after being deployed in Texas for nearly three weeks. The team reunited with family and friends during a homecoming Wednesday afternoon. They were in Texas helping with search and recovery efforts after the flooding of the Guadalupe River. Capt. Sean Millard was one of eight on the team who had been in Texas for the past 18 days. His wife, Debbie Millard, and their two kids are feeling proud and grateful. โ€œYou know that theyโ€™re doing great things for the people who lost their loved ones, trying to give them some peace and some closure, so that just really warms your heart knowing that theyโ€™re doing such good things,โ€ Debbie Millard said. The team conducted extensive operations, including water and shoreline searches. โ€œWe were assigned to the Missouri FEMA Task Force, and we were basically put in charge of all the water when we were there,โ€ said VBFD Capt. Matthew McQuarrie.
