Popular marketplace, farm in Great Falls destroyed in fire

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A family-owned produce stand that has been in operation for nearly 40 years went up in flames late Tuesday.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a building on fire at the 11110 block of Georgetown Pike in Great Falls which is the location of Krop’s Crop produce stand. A Fairfax County Police helicopter first discovered the building on fire while returning from a call when they reported the fire to the county at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday.

When fire and rescue arrived on scene they found multiple buildings on fire. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire to prevent it from further spreading. The fire is under control and there are no reported injuries.

As of 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, investigators were said to be on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Damages to the property have not yet been determined.
