Mountain View Center nursing home facility was damaged by a fire in Rutland City Thursday evening, according to the Rutland City Fire Department. Crews responded to reports of a fire on Haywood Avenue just after 5 p.m. and arrived at the facility to find a fire outside. All residents at the nursing home had been safely evacuated. Officials said the fire caused damage to the outside of the building but did not reach its interior. Crews were able to put the fire out, but the flames were extended by wind. No one was displaced as a result of the fire.
