Vehicle catches fire after crashing into barrier on I-215 in Salt Lake County

A vehicle that crashed into a barrier caught fire and closed westbound lanes on Interstate 215 in Salt Lake County. The crash happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

According to Corporal Luis Sliva with the Utah Highway Patrol, both occupants were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. “Yes, it’s a single vehicle that crashed into the barrier. The vehicle subsequently caught on fire,โ€ he said.

The estimated clearance time was 10:35 p.m., according to UDOT. โ€œThe two right lanes of I-215 westbound were closed. The cause of the crash is still under investigation,โ€ Sliva said.
