VIDEO: A shelter-in-place order that was in effect for two Baytown communities has been lifted. The order was put in place after a tank at Trek Resources, Inc. on Causeway Road near Evergreen caught fire during Thursday morning’s storms. The shelter-in-place was issued for residents in the Evergreen Fairways and Trinity Oak subdivisions. According to the Baytown Fire Department, the fire broke out at around 7:40 a.m. Because of the lack of fire hydrants, water tankers from Cove, Beach City, and Crosby Volunteer Fire Departments were brought in. Foam trucks from Harris County Hazmat and ExxonMobil were also used to put the fire out.ย Crews contained the fire and cooled nearby tanks to stop the fire from spreading. The Baytown Fire Department monitored air quality and put the shelter-in-place as a precaution.ย No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
