Major fire at San Antonio apartment complex reignites almost 12 hours after initial fire

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A major fire broke out Saturday night at an apartment complex on the North Side and was reignited on Sunday about 12 hours later. At around 10:15 p.m., over 45 units were called to the scene of a large fire at The Mark Apartments at 11138 Huebner Oaks near the corner of I-10 and Huebner Oaks.

The fire department tells us the fire started in a common balcony area and spread quickly into the attic and walls of the complex.

“When we got here, we found a fire on the fifth floor. It’s a common space, kind of a patio, common patio area. It’s open air with a roof on it. Some fire on that floor. Thought we had it out. Then we realized that the fire had gotten into the to the walls and the attic space there,โ€ explained Joe Arrington from the San Antonio Fire Department. “Well over 100 firefighters here on scene. It’s not going to be a big, large inferno – behind you don’t see a lot of fire. It’s in the walls. It’s kind of in the floor.”
