VIDEO: Lubbock Fire Rescue Lieutenant Eric Hill was one of three first responders to be hit while responding to a crash on the interstate back in 2020. Lubbock police officer Nicholas Reyna and Hill were struck and killed that day, while firefighter Matt Dawson suffered serious injuries and later died in 2023. In honor of Hill, Lubbock Fire Rescue named itโs new $9.2 million fire station located at 142nd St. and Indiana after him. Mark Hill, Ericโs father, says their family is forever thankful for everyone who helped make the Eric Hill Memorial Station a reality. โSo, itโs just beautiful and weโre so thankful to the city and all of the people who have been behind this and to keep Eric at the forefront of everything that was done,โ Mark said. LFR Chief Richard Stewart believes itโs important to never forget first responders and the work they do to keep us safe.
