Firefighter injured keeping flames from spreading to nearby businesses in NW Harris County

Authorities are trying to find out what started a fire at a northwest Harris County business overnight Wednesday, where a firefighter had to be hospitalized. It happened around 12:30 a.m. when Harris Co. firefighters were called to Belgold Street near Willowbrook Mall. Initial crews saw flames through the roof of a building and noticed the flames were getting close to other buildings, so additional reinforcements from Cypress Creek, Champions, and the Klein Fire Department were called. However, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and keep them from spreading to nearby businesses within 40 minutes. At last check, the sole building suffered only some smoke damage. An unidentified firefighter, weโ€™re told, suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
