10-year-old boy donates $500 to Rockport Volunteer Fire Department after Salt Flats Fire

VIDEO: It’s been nearly a month since the Salt Flats Fire tore through Rockport burning 157 acres and destroying homes. The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, with help from 41 agencies, stepped up to contain the fire and the community responded through donations. One specific donation caught the firefighters by surprise. Liam Logan is a typical 10-year-boy that loves motorbikes but on April 9, when the Salt Flats Fire broke out near his home, he couldn’t stop thinking about the firefighters on the front lines. So, he and his family held a garage sale, raising $500 to donate to the RVFD. “Well I watched it for three days and then just felt bad for them because I got to sleep and they didn’t,” Liam said.
