Spring Hill officially opens new fire station named for former firefighter

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Friday, Nov. 21, saw a special occasion, as the City of Spring Hill cut the ribbon on its fourth fire station. Station No. 4 is the first new fire station in the city since 2015, according to city officials. Located at the corner of Buckner Lane and Duplex Road, the new station includes 13 bunk rooms, nine total bathrooms, and a dedicated office and bunk room for the battalion chief on shift.

There is also a full kitchen, training room and a workout room available inside the new station. Fire Station No. 4 will also house multiple fire trucks and other emergency vehicles, allowing the city to cut down on response times for citizens during emergencies.

As of June, the departmentโ€™s average response time was 7-and-a-half minutes. The goal of the new station is to cut down response times to under 6 minutes.

The new station has long been a priority for the city. Spring Hill Fire Chief Graig Temple told News 2 in April of this year the departmentโ€™s strategic plan has included additional fire stations for the last couple of years.
