VIDEO/PHOTOS: Rural Metro Fire crews responded to Knox Countyโs highest peak on Monday after receiving a report of an injured hiker. Crews were called to House Mountain around 2:20 p.m.
According to a Rural Metro Fire spokesperson, responders learned that a hiker with a possible lower-body injury was unable to walk. Multiple crews were sent up the trail with wheeled Stokes basket, or a specialized stretcher used in rough terrain, and were able to safely transport the hiker down the steep terrain. The hiker was brought to a waiting ambulance and transported to a local hospital. House Mountain is a 527-acre natural area in Northeast Knox County featuring hiking trails and scenic views of nearby mountain ranges. With a maximum elevation of over 2,100 feet, it is the highest point in Knox County.
