VIDEO: Pigeon Forge Fire Chief Tony Watson is retiring after 18 years in the position, according to city manager David Wear. Wear said Watson had given his intent to retire and “has done so.”
Watson served 17 years as a volunteer firefighter before becoming the first salaried chief for the PFFD in 2007. According to his bio, he was a second-generation firefighter with 35 years of experience, graduating from the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. PFFD’s battalion chief and veteran firefighter Josh Carr has been named interim fire chief, according to Wear. Wednesday marked Carr’s first day in the position.
