One airlifted after house fire in Bristol

VIDEO: One person was airlifted to a burn center after a house fire on Ash Street in Bristol, Tennessee on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the City of Bristol, Tennessee told News Channel 11 that dispatch received a Life Alert notification and 911 call reporting a structure fire just before 11:30 a.m.

โ€œThe victim had exited their home with their clothing still engulfed in flame and ran to a neighboring unit for help,โ€ the spokesperson said in an email to News Channel 11. โ€œThe neighbor quickly assisted by advising the victim to stop, drop, and roll, which extinguished the flames on their clothes.โ€

The fire was quickly brought under control, and all damage was confined to the original unit where the fire started, the spokesperson stated.

โ€œThe victim was airlifted to a burn center for treatment,โ€ the spokesperson said. โ€œThe helicopter landed at the Tennessee High School track, which is the closest location to the scene where they could safely land.โ€

No information was available on the victimโ€™s extent of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
