Lebanon mother saves children from playroom fire that destroyed family’s home

VIDEO: A Lebanon family lost their home Friday evening when flames sparked in their children’s playroom on Woods Ferry Road. Ashley Hindman said her family had just finished dinner when her son told her there was a fire near his toys.

“I ran upstairs, saw the orange shining on the wall from the bonus room. And I immediately got all the kids outside,” Hindman said. “And I ran back inside and tried to find the fire extinguisher.”

Hindman said she tried to fight the fire until the extinguisher ran out while her husband, Rex, rushed home from work. “It was just a pile of plushies in the middle of the room that was just ablaze. It looked like a campfire,” she said.

Rex said they scrambled to save what they could. “We’re throwing cats out windows. Trying to get some of our shoe collections and stuff. I’m throwing like one Jordan out that window. One boot out that window,” he said.
