Hendersonville firefighter honored for saving life at Titans game

VIDEO: A member of the Hendersonville Fire Department was recognized last week for saving a manโ€™s life at a Tennessee Titans preseason game while off-duty back in August.

On Aug. 22, HFD Senior Firefighter Corey Shelton sprung into action when a man suddenly collapsed in the concourse of Nissan Stadium.

Shelton wasnโ€™t even supposed to be there. He said the tickets were a last minute decision, he and his family were running late to the game, and they originally walked to the wrong side of the stadium. However, fate is funny like that.

โ€œKick-off happens, weโ€™re trying to get [to our seats], I go to the bathroom, run into the bathroom, and then my wife hollers my nameโ€ฆand thereโ€™s this guy, he just falls out right in front of us,โ€ explained Shelton. โ€œโ€ฆI immediately go over and start checking him and assessing him and trying to figure out whatโ€™s going on. [He had] no pulse, agonal respirations, and so we started CPR.โ€
