The Athens Fire Department saved three dogs and five cats from a burning home on Monday. Firefighters arrived to the house on Brentwood Drive just before 3:30 p.m. They say it was fully engulfed in flames. The house received significant fire and water damage, according to the fire department. However, nobody was injured and all the residents got out safely. Several agencies assisted in extinguishing this fire. Firefighters rescued the eight pets from the house. “Quick response and aggressive fire operations by our firefighters prevented the incident from becoming much worse,” said AFD Fire Chief Brandon Ainsworth.
