VIDEO: The Clarksville Police Department is launching a new registry for people with special needs aimed at helping first responders reunite lost people with their caregivers faster. City of Clarksville Police and Fire Dispatch Cadet Administrator Angee Daniel says her dispatchers often get calls when a person with special needs or memory issues needs help finding their way home.
โPeople with special needs, family members, they already have a unique set of challenges already,โ Daniel said. โIf you have your loved one, and they tend to leave the house without you knowing, because you could be asleep, or you could be cooking dinner, and next thing you know, youโre like, โWhere did they go?โโ
Daniel says usually a neighbor or passerby will call police for help, but when officers show up, it can sometimes be hard for them to figure out where the lost person is supposed to be. So she came up with the idea to create a registry where family members and caregivers can provide information and photos of their loved one, and so officers can use that information when theyโre on a call.
