VIDEO/PHOTOS: A medical helicopter crashed in Wilson County Saturday afternoon, leading to the death of one crew member and the hospitalization of two others, according to officials. The Wilson County Sheriffโs Office announced just after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 that a LifeFlight helicopter crashed in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road.
Vanderbilt LifeFlight officials identified the crew member who was killed in the crash on Saturday afternoon. Allan Williams, a registered nurse and flight nurse/paramedic, died as a result of the crash.
Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area and find an alternate route to allow emergency personnel to manage the scene safely and effectively. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed to News 2 Saturday evening itโs investigating the โcrash of an Airbus Helicopter EC130T2 near Lebanon.โ The sheriffโs office reported the Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating the incident.
