Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a call of a person who was trapped in a sinking vehicle on late Thursday. According to reporting from Mike Tanner with Watertown Radio, a call came in around 11:00 pm on Thursday of a person who was trapped in a sinking vehicle north of Exit 181 on Interstate 29. While on the way to the scene, they learned the occupant had safely gotten out and swam to a bystanderโs vehicle.
The driver ended up in the water after their vehicle exited the Interstate, where it had encountered 10 inches of water flooding both lanes near mile marker 182. When emergency crews arrived, only the rear bumper of the submerged car was visible. The driver was evaluated by paramedics on-site and did not need further medical attention. Due to flooding, Interstate 29 was shut down between Exit 181 and Exit 185.
