Firefighter hospitalized after Myrtle Beach hotel catches fire, officials say

An abandoned Myrtle Beach hotel caught fire over the weekend, officials said. The blaze broke out at the Sea Gypsy Inn on North Ocean Boulevard the morning of Sunday, July 27. Fire damage was visible on the top floor of the three-story building. A Myrtle Beach fire captain told sister-station WMBF that one firefighter was taken to the hospital, although it was not clear if he went because of the fire or the near 100-degree heat. Investigators had not yet publicly released the cause of the fire as of Monday morning. The Sea Gypsy Inn is right off the beach, along the Myrtle Beach boardwalk. WMBF said the hotel was no longer in business
