Construction nears completion on Myrtle Beach Fire Department’s newest station

VIDEO: Crews are making progress on the brand new Myrtle Beach Fire Department station near the airport. Fire Station 3 will be the first new fire station in Myrtle Beach since Station 6 opened in 2005, replacing the department’s old facility, which dates back to the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Captain Jon Evans said the upgrade is essential because Station 3 runs a large majority of the department’s calls throughout the year. The new station features a drive-through bay for emergency vehicles, individual bunkrooms, and overall more space for the department to grow as they continue to hire new firefighters and EMTs. “It is a big time for us as we grow,” said Evans. The Myrtle Beach Fire Department also received a new Pierce Ladder Truck, which is housed and in service in the Market Common area.
