The Bluffton Township Fire District (BTFD) has selected a new fire chief. David Hindman was approved after an extensive search.
โWe took very seriously the responsibility to find the right leader for this organization and our community,โ said Acting Board Chairman William Rickett. โThe search process was thorough, thoughtful, and deliberate. We are confident that Chief Hindman brings the experience, leadership, and commitment to service necessary to guide the Bluffton Township Fire District forward.โ
Chief Hindman is expected to begin his service on or before Jan. 5, 2026. He is currently the Chief of Operations for the Greenville City (SC) Fire Department.
Chief Hindman brings more than 25 years of fire service experience, beginning his career as a junior volunteer firefighter at age 16. He has served in multiple operational and administrative leadership roles, most recently overseeing operations for Greenville City Fire.
