Jamestown Fire Department rescues woman, dog from rocks at Beavertail State Park

A woman and her dog were rescued from rocks at Beavertail State Park Wednesday morning after becoming trapped between parking lots 1 and 2, according to the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department. The fire alarm was received at 10:21 a.m., alerting crews to the situation at the popular coastal destination.

First-arriving companies made contact with the original caller, who was positioned in a vessel offshore and helped direct firefighters to the victimโ€™s location, fire officials said. Crews successfully assisted both the woman and her dog to safety without incident. Emergency medical services evaluated the woman at the scene, but she declined further medical care.

The rescue prompted a comprehensive response from multiple Jamestown Fire Department units. In addition to EMS and initial land-based fire companies, the department deployed its drone unit, Marine 1 and ATV-1 from their various stations. โ€œWhen an alarm is received at any state park JFD prioritizes a quick response for all possible outcomes,โ€ fire officials said in a Facebook post.

While the additional specialized units ultimately were not needed, they remained fully prepared to assist in the rescue operation if required. The departmentโ€™s run card included companies C1, C5, R1, L1, D1, M1, and UTV-1.00
