South Williamsport Fire Department gets new rescue boat

VIDEO: When walking into the South Williamsport Fire Station, you’ll notice all of the apparatus and equipment they have. Recently, the fire department added a new non-motorized rescue boat to its fleet after the drowning of 10-year-old Claue Schreffler-Algofera back in May at the South Williamsport Dam. “That we can use to get into the dam in case someone’s stuck in the dam, we can paddle into the dam, pull them up through the bottom of our floor, secure them and then have a boat that we tether to, to pull us out of the dam,” said Chief Jeffrey Trammell, South Williamsport Fire Department. South Williamsport Fire Department used relief funds to pay for the $3,000 non-motorized boat. The rescue boat can be used in the winter months during icy conditions as well.
