Memorial Day fire forces 50 customers to evacuate Lancaster County movie theater

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A fire forced an evacuation at a Lancaster County movie theater on Memorial Day, according to fire officials. Approximately 50 customers were evacuated from Regal Cinemas on Millersville Pike in Lancaster County around 2:40 p.m. According to the Lancaster Township Fire Department, an electrical malfunction caused an exit sign to catch fire, prompting someone to pull the fire alarm.

The fire scorched an overhanging theater directional sign, but the building sustained no further damage, the department said. Customers who were evacuated said they had the option to return to their movie or collect a refund for their ticket from the theater. The fire department stated that the evacuation disrupted “one of the movie industry’s busiest days of the year.” The scene cleared around 3:15 p.m.
