VIDEO: Emergency services always could use more help and a fire company in Dauphin County that recently started paying firefighters is looking to hire two new ones.
Harrisburg is the Pennsylvania capital and most well-known municipality in Dauphin County, but Lower Paxton Township actually has the most people, more than 50,000, but until recently, no paid firefighters.
Zach Halbleib is one of the new professional firefighters. He started five years ago as a volunteer for Paxtonia Fire Company and is now at Colonia Park Fire Company.
The Colonial Park fire trucks are white, along with Paxtonia, Colonial Park and Linglestown. They are all now part of the Lower Paxton Fire Bureau. To be clear, Halbleib said the color doesnโt mean anything.
โThe color of the fire trucks donโt really make a difference on anything,โ Halbleib said. โMain important part is the safety aspect of knowing the fire trucks are getting out on the street with adequate staffing.โ
