Lackawanna County firehouse demolished after five decades of service

VIDEO: In Moosic, a final farewell to a firehouse that served the borough for nearly five decades. Crews demolished the Greenwood Hose Company’s old station on Birney Avenue. It makes way for the new six-million-dollar emergency services headquarters being built just behind the old one. The 18-thousand square-foot building will soon house both fire and police, offering more space for apparatus, training, and modern amenities. Construction is expected to be finished in November.
