Firefighters battle flames at two homes in Murrysville, heavy smoke visible

VIDEOS/PHOTO: Firefighters were battling flames at two homes in Murrysville in Westmoreland County on Tuesday morning. Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, flew over the scene on Heritage Lane, where thick, black smoke could be seen rising from the fire. Mary Ronco, who lives in the neighborhood, said she was inside her home when the fire started. “I was in my living room. I was going to start running the sweeper, and I heard, like, gunshots or fireworks. Something was popping in the garage,” Ronco said. Ronco would then describe how the flames spread. “The first one caught fire going down the hill in the carport and then the flames went over to the second house to the porch. They’re both totally gone,” Ronco said. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Fire officials have not released information on the conditions of the people who were inside the homes.
