VIDEO: Plumes of white smoke were pouring from the roof of a tire shop in Wayne County that caught fire Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from Lake Ariel and its neighboring communities started responding to Vegh Import & Electronics, at 813 Hamlin Highway, late Tuesday morning as flames and black smoke ripped through its roof. By about 12:30 p.m., the color of the smoke had lightened.
The Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company warned residents to avoid the area. Hamlin Highway closed between Golf Park Drive and Hamlin Four Corners while crews worked, the fire company said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
No one was hurt, officials said. Everyone who was inside the building safely escaped.
Crews had the fire extinguished by 1 p.m.
