Fire crews say lightning strike sparks garage fire, damages home in York County

Fire crews responded to a garage fire caused by a lightning strike in York County late Saturday night. The fire started around 11:50 p.m. in the 7900 block of Woodland Drive in Paradise Township. A small explosion that went off before crews got to the scene caused the fire to spread rapidly, according to the Porters Fire Company. While putting out the flames, the fire company says crews had to be rotated frequently due to high temperatures and humidity. Part of the attached house was damaged before crews were able to put out the fire. The fire was caused by a lightning strike, according to the United Hook and Ladder Company #33. No injuries have been reported.
