VIDEO: It’s now been a hundred years since the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company first started. They kicked off a weekend of celebration with a block party. “This celebration is really for all of the members of the fire company past and present, if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be the Waymart Volunteer Fire Company,โ said Cliff Jones, one of the assistant chiefs of the Waymart Fire Company. To properly party, the fire company brought out live music, art vendors, food vendors, entertainment like a petting zoo, clown, a magician, and a firetruck they used dating back to the 1930s. “It’s been overhauled by Rick Utegg and his brother Jim, and when I started here in 1986, they were working on this work then to get it the way it looks today, and we’ve been running it in all kinds of parades all over the place,โ said Jones.
