PHOTOS: A Good Samaritan is being credited with helping save a driver from a burning car on Highway 47 on Tuesday night after a crash involving three elk, Vernonia Rural Fire said. The crash happened at about 9:50 p.m. near the Peterson Road intersection. Someone helped pull the driver out of the burning car before firefighters made it to the scene.
First responders evaluated the driver, who was then taken to a local trauma hospital for further treatment. Now Vernonia Fire wants to find that hero who โundoubtedly prevented a far more tragic outcome.โ Highway 47 was closed while crews worked to clear the collision, and the lanes were back open before midnight. Banks Fire District 13 also helped with the crash.
