Person detained after 2-alarm fire at Louis Dreyfus grain elevator in Portland

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A โ€œperson of interestโ€ was detained for questioning after a two-alarm fire at the Louis Dreyfus grain elevator just north of Portlandโ€™s Steel Bridge on Saturday evening, according to Portland Fire & Rescue. Shortly before 8 p.m., crews responded to a fire reported in a commercial building at the end of North Thunderbird Way along the Willamette River.

Firefighters said they saw smoke rising from the north end of the structure. Once inside, crews found a fire burning on the second floor, PF&R said. Once the fire in the second floor was under control, crews determined that the fire had only spread to the third floor, which was also quickly knocked down, and firefighters had the flames under control within half an hour. A fire investigator is working to determine how the fire started โ€œamid reports of suspicious activity,โ€ PF&R said. No one was reported hurt.
