Jefferson County Fire & EMS named Kasey Skaar as the interim fire chief. Skaar is currently the deputy chief, and will take over as interim fire chief on November 29. Skaar has served as the interim fire chief before. Current Fire Chief Jeff Blake announced his resignation earlier this month. His last day will be November 28.

To ensure stability and continuity, the Board has appointed Deputy Chief Kasey Skaar as Interim Fire Chief, effective November 29, 2025. The Board has granted Chief Skaar full authority over all financial matters and departmental procedures, effective October 21, 2025, and he will work closely with Chief Blake to ensure a smooth and seamless transition prior to Blakeโs departure.
