The Foley Ridge Fire remained active overnight on Saturday, according to fire officials, but saw a temporary reprieve on Sunday as precipitation helped moderate fire behavior throughout the day. However, with a warming trend in the forecast, fire activity is expected to increase as fuels dry out. A community meeting was scheduled for Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the โnewโ gym on McKenzie High School campus.
In response to the anticipated rise in fire activity, the fire incident management team has adjusted resource assignments to include both a swing shift and night operations. Crews are utilizing drones equipped with infrared mapping technology to more accurately assess the fire perimeter and acreage. Fire officials say these systems have detected multiple small spot fires within the established control lines. Air Operations will continue to utilize UAS as they become available to the incident.
Fire officials say ground crews are making steady progress constructing hand lines from Foley Ridge Road to Forest Service Road 218. Structure protection efforts are underway around Yale Camp and the Foley Seed Orchard. Mastication and other heavy equipment are being used to strengthen containment lines along the eastern flank of the fire. The shaded fuel break along Highway 242 is well-established, and fire operations are actively scouting opportunities to add depth to these indirect containment lines.
