Firefighters resuscitate 3 dogs rescued from burning North Portland home

Firefighters helped rescue several dogs from a burning home in North Portland on Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. in the 4000 block of North Attu Street. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the front and back of the home. All three people who lived at the house made it out before firefighters arrived, and one of them was taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation injuries. Firefighters got seven dogs out of the home. Sadly one of the dogs died, however, firefighters successfully resuscitated three others. The remaining three were unhurt by the fire. Crews managed to get the flames extinguished within 15 minutes of arriving on-scene. Investigators are still working to find out what caused the fire.
