Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA), South Umpqua Fire Department, Riddle Fire, Myrtle Creek Fire, Tri City Fire, and the Cow Creek Tribal Police responded to an estimated 1-acre fire near the 5000 block of NE Dole Road in Myrtle Creek. Upon arrival, crews discovered a grass fire rapidly spreading uphill. “All responding firefighters took immediate action, including DFPAโs air attack, one type 2 helicopter, three type 6 engines, two type 3 engines, a dozer, and overhead command,” DFPA said. The coordinated effort contained the fire, limiting its growth to 2.63 acres. This fire posed no threat to homes or structures.
