Follow-up: Tulsa Fire Department activates ‘After the Fire’ community outreach following deadly house fire

The Tulsa Fire Department held a community outreach event as part of its ‘After the Fire’ program on Wednesday following a recent deadly house fire in west Tulsa. FOX23 reported the Tulsa Fire Department (TFD) said crews responded to a reported explosion and house fire near West 1st Street and South Phoenix Avenue on July 31. We told you two people were in the house when the fire started and were taken to the hospital. A firefighter was also treated for minor burns.

TFD said one of the victims later died. “Two residents were transported with significant burn injuries,” TFD said. “Tragically, one victim later died.” TFD said it’s activating the “After the Fire” community outreach program in response to the devastating incident.

Five TFD companies participated in Wednesday’s event. Firefighters walked door-to-door distributing and installing smoke alarms where needed and fire safety materials/information, TFD said. They also answered residents’ questions. The goal of Wednesday’s event was to offer fire safety education to residents in the surrounding neighborhood and help prevent future tragedies.
