Broken Arrow Fire and Police hold joint Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response training

The Broken Arrow Fire Department (BAFD) and the Broken Arrow Police Department (BAPD) held Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (A.S.H.E.R.) training on Thursday. The BAFD and BAPD have launched a collaborative training initiative based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 3000 standard.

“The training marks the beginning of a sustained, joint effort to prepare for and effectively respond to potential large-scale active threat or hostile events within the City of Broken Arrow,” the announcement read. The training, held at the Broken Arrow Police & Fire Training Center, prepares both departments to respond faster and more effectively during major emergencies.

NFPA 3000 is a “national guide that helps police, fire, and EMS work together better when life-threatening incident happens โ€” like an active shooter or other dangerous attack,” the announcement read. “NFPA 3000 gives appropriate instructions, effective communication, and demonstrates how to respond quickly and lives can be saved and end the threat as fast as possible.”
