Woman injured, 4 pets dead, 1 missing after destructive house fire in Greene Co.

Four pets are dead, one is missing, and a home was destroyed in a fire in Greene County on Saturday evening. According to the Xenia Fire Division, an off-duty firefighter and neighbor called in the fire in the 200 block of Colorado Drive at approximately 7 p.m. It was dispatched as a working fire.

When crews arrived, they faced heavy flames out in the front and the back of the home, and had to start fighting from the lawn. The homeโ€™s occupant, Pat Beatty, 71, was in the home when the fire started, but she made it outside while crews arrived. She was treated on scene for a burn injury. The house was deemed a total loss, and the American Red Cross is assisting Pat with housing. Officials said three pets were declared dead on the scene, and two are unaccounted for. However, 2 NEWS spoke with Patโ€™s daughter, Amy, who said she found another deceased cat on the scene. Meaning the only cat unaccounted for is a shy, one-eyed orange and white male cat named Meatball.
