VIDEO: A fire in downtown Dayton Thursday has left some businesses closed and caused thousands of dollars in damages. Dayton Police & Fire shared on Facebook that crews responded to a high-rise in the area of East Fourth and South Ludlow streets. This occurred around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Officials report crews saw fire on the third floor of a 10-story multi-use structure. A sprinkler was reportedly activated in a third floor apartment. While the sprinklers worked as intended, businesses like iHeartRadio 107.7 Studio and Table 33 say the water caused more damage than the flames did. Video footage from inside the iHeartRadio studio shows the ceiling partially collapsed due to the amount of water from the floors above where the fire was reported. Water was also seen streaming down the windows of the building.
