VIDEO: Members of the Washington Township Fire Department are mourning – saying goodbye to one of their own Sunday night. Kara Grabowski fought a long battle with cystic fibrosis.
She joined the department – where her mother also works – just before getting sick. 13 Action News spoke to family and fire department members at her memorial.
When asked to describe Kara, those who are closest to her say she was brave, giving and tough. They say she battled cystic fibrosis her whole life, but that didnโt stop her from living it to the fullest.
โKara just, had a heart of gold and she was everybodyโs friend. She was loyal.โ said Karaโs mother, Jody Gruesbeck. โCaring, and brave.โ said Bailee Markowiak, a friend of Karaโs and a Washington Township paramedic.
