Members of the Williston Fire Department went well beyond their jurisdiction to protect the public over the past year. This week, several firefighters were given commendations for their efforts in fighting wildfires. Responding to requests for assistance back in October, four firefighters spent nearly two weeks in Mandaree to fight the Bear Den fire, which burned more than 13 thousand acres. Three Williston firefighters were also honored for going to California in September to fight the Line Fire in San Bernadino County, which burned nearly 44 thousand acres.
