According to Killdeer Police Chief Jonathan Avalos, the call came in of a fire at the location shortly before 5 p.m. MT. Avalos said no one was hurt. He said the restaurant was open for business at the time of the call, but everyone safely evacuated.
The chief said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and they are working with the fire marshal to learn more. No other structures were damaged. Killdeer Police and Ambulance, West Dunn Fire Department, and Dunn County Sheriffโs Office all responded. The business, also known as 2 7/8 The Pipe Bar and Grill, is a total loss.
Itโs believed the building goes back to at least the 1950s, and the business has reportedly changed ownership several times over the years. A local citizen told Your News Leader that members of the local American Legion Post, who were about to celebrate their 105th anniversary on Friday, brought food from their event to the firefighters at the scene.
