Former Dublin Fire Chief laid to rest after deadly car accident

VIDEO: Pete Batton, former chief of the Dublin Fire Department, was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon. Batton was killed on Saturday, May 24, after a car crash on Highway 41. He was waiting to turn left onto the road to his home when he was hit from behind by a tow truck. Family, friends, and officers all paid their respects at his funeral. The service took place at Dublin First Baptist Family Life Center. His children say he was very involved in the community. Battonโ€™s family wants to remind people to cherish their loved ones. โ€œPeople, donโ€™t take your loved ones for granted. Just hug them and love on them every day. Thatโ€™s the memories we have. We hugged our daddy every day,โ€ say his children. Investigators have charged Kirkland Smith with felony second-degree murder for the deadly crash.
