VIDEO: A fictional disaster hit Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Saturday morning.
Local agencies and law enforcement partners practiced how to control a full-scale emergency.
Airport leaders said the exercise keeps everyone up to date on how to deal with a disaster if, and when, it occurs. โGives us a chance to practice our response procedures with our partners and stakeholders so we donโt meet for the first time when a disaster happens,โ Kevin Wu, director of operations for emergency services, said.
Airports across the country are required to host disaster training and exercises every three years.
