Three cats are missing after a fire broke out at a home built in the 19th century in Moore County Wednesday morning, officials said.
According to the Southern Pines Fire and Rescue Department, the blaze was reported around 9 a.m. in the 2000 block of South Bennett Street in Southern Pines. It damaged a home that was also used as a business by the owner.
No people were injured during the incident, but emergency personnel said they have not been able to locate three cats.
The home is considered uninhabitable. Two occupants have been displaced, according to the department.
According to the department, the home was built in the 1880s by Southern Pinesโ first real estate agent.
Emergency personnel said the cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon. It is believed to have started on the first floor of the home.
