Two people were hurt and an officer received medical treatment after a fire broke out at a home in Huntersville Sunday evening.
Crews were alerted to a working fire with a possible entrapment at a house in the 9600 block of Rich Hatchet Road. Cornelius and Davidson Fire Departments also assisted in the response.
Around 5:40 p.m., firefighters were entering the house trying to extinguish the blaze. Crews reported seeing heavy fire erupting from the rear rooms and in the attic.
During the search of the home, firefighters located a โbariatric patientโ. That person and one other from the home were transported to the hospital by Medic with burns. We do not know their current condition.
In addition, a Huntersville Police officer received medical treatment for smoke inhalation.
Crews used three hose lines to fight the fire, knocking out a bulk of the flames shortly before 6 p.m.
