State fire investigators are looking into the cause of a deadly fire in Warren County. Authorities have identified the person who died in this fire at 18 Columbia Avenue in Queensbury as Wayne Mechanick Sr., 80. The emergency 911 call came in around 1 a.m. Monday morning. Firefighters rushed to the scene. Even though that fire broke out a few blocks from the nearest fire station, there just wasnโt enough time to save Mechanick. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Itโs unclear if the intense heat played a role. Meanwhile, even though firefighting gear is effective at protecting the brave men and women at a fire scene, that gear is especially tough to wear when the temperature and humidity are very high.
